Ultrasonic Dental Treatment
The most gentle and effective ultrasonic teeth clean with Emmi-pet; a unique patented system from Emmi-dent, which uses an ultrasonic toothbrush generating up to 96 million ultrasonic waves per minute. This works to remove tartar build up, improving breath odour and reducing gum-inflammation to reduce the risk of Periodontitis and other chronic oral diseases.
The Emmi-pet brush is gentle, motionless and doesn’t involve any harsh or abrasive action. Combined with a specially formulated toothpaste, this effectively eliminates and removes food particles, bacteria, and plaque from your dog’s mouth, working to loosen calcified tartar which can then be removed. The ultrasound reaches deep below the gumline to kill germs and increase blood flow, helping to reduce inflammation and stop bleeding. It is estimated that by 2 years old, 80% of dogs begin to show signs of oral concerns and by age 3 will have active dental diseases, making a proper dental schedule a key part of any dog's healthcare.
This treatment is gentle and not a one visit solution. After completing an initial treatment course to remove any existing plaque and tartar, Emmi-pet is very effective in combating the development of:
Plaque and tartar build up
Gingivitis and periodontitis
Oral cavity diseases
Bad breath
Please be aware that the treatment is preventative and not an alternative to vet treatment in cases of severe tartar build up; for these, the service may be declined and veterinary assistance recommended. However, once veterinary treatment is completed, emmi-pet can be started as a preventative measure going forward. In both of our treatment schedules we will recommend a home routine to help maintain dental hygiene.
Treatment schedule
First session
The first session will be a 30 minute to 1 hr initial consultation. This is used to assess current dental condition and familiarise your dog with the treatment at their own pace and includes a first cleaning session. Your pet will have their own toothbrush head which is purchased as part of this session. To ensure its effectiveness, this head will need replacing and a new one purchased after 20 visits (sooner if it becomes damaged).
treatment schedule
10 session package
Every dog is different and the number of sessions needed to remove tartar will vary. These following sessions will be 30 minutes, which can be organised as a 10 session package to guarantee appointment places and benefit from a small discount.
Follow-on maintenance sessions can be added into your groom package once tartar has been removed to prevent further plaque build up.
Single treatments
The Emmi-pet dental treatment is most effective when on a regular schedule, with a recommended initial course of weekly treatments to remove existing build up. However, if you wish to arrange single treatments, on a ‘pay as you go’ basis, these can be booked following the first session.
